In our last post, we have presented the largest island in Lithuania – Rusne Island. This island is very special and beautiful; therefore, we decided to share more interesting facts about this wonderful place in Lithuania.
Rusne is unique for its Uostadvaris lighthouse and water lifting station. Uostadvaris is located on the left side of the Atmata River and belongs to the Nemunas Delta Regional Park.

In Rusne, there is a water lifting station that has been there since the 20th century. Since then, it has been saving Uostadvaris and residents of Rusne to fight floods. Rusne Island is well known for its floods during springtime due to the melting ice after winter.
During them, one of the main accesses to the island – the road Silute-Rusne gets flooded. Therefore, the water lifting station becomes a big help for the city residents in the fight against floods.
