In today’s post, we would like to talk about the national dish of Dzukija – Grikine boba (babka). It is a traditional Dzuku pastry baked from buckwheat flour with all the shells. The babka was usually baked during the festive period, for honourable guests and other occasions.
Did you know? Buckwheat has always grown well in the sand dunes of south-eastern Lithuania, that’s why buckwheat dishes are very common here.
It is said that it is almost impossible to tell the exact recipe of babka because all of the ingredients are put without measuring. However, we would like to share this short video on how to make a sweet buckwheat babka. How about trying to cook one yourself?
